Department of Nutrition and Dietetics

 

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics will offer excellent training to Dieticians and Dietetic technicians. Dieticians and dietetic technicians will use science to promote healthy eating habits. Diet therapy,nutritional research, counselling and education are all within the realm of the dietetic professional. Dieticians specialize in five main areas; Clinical dieticians work in plan preparation of meals for patients and confer with physicians and other medical professionals about each patient’s nutritional needs and preferences. Management dieticians plan, coordinate and supervise the planning, purchase and preparation of food for institutions as hospitals, health centres and schools. Research dieticians study nutrition, food science and research alternative foods. Community dieticians work in government Health agencies on basic rules of nutrition on invalids and improve eating behaviour. Consultant dieticians counsel patients and perform nutritional screening and assessments on their own patients or those preferred by physician. The courses offer a wide range of topics from food production, microbiology, human psychology, diet therapy, food science and technology, community health and research. We train Dieticians and Dietetic technicians capable of working as Pharmaceutical technologist capable of working in skilled nursing facilities, Schools, Hospitals and medical centres, Public health agencies, Research Pharmacies and Chemists The department will offer:

  • Diploma of Technology Health Nutrition and Dietetic management
