Department of Journalism & Mass Communication
The department offers contemporary courses designed for today’s mass communication. Our practical work includes the use of digital as traditional media. The training encompasses television, radio, journalism, film, electronic publishing, wed design, animation, design and publishing. These courses inspire open doors and create opportunities in the mass media world.
Photography remains one of our most influential and powerful forms of communication. Digital technologies have strengthened the medium by introducing new creative and publishing possibilities. The Photography course embraces the diversity of influences, ideas, media, audiences that constitute the broad sweep of contemporary practice. Students will work with a wide range of media from the still image using digital and film based technologies to digital video and web authoring programmes. Professional photography can use still images or video and it can be published in print, on a billboard, on a gallery wall or both. The Kenya Polytechnic being the only University College offering Photography will go a long way in offering our graduates necessary skills in Photography that can be manipulated using digital media to suit the ever growing in advertising.  

Diploma in Journalism and Public Relations
Intake: January only
Duration: 6 terms
Qualifications: K.C.S.E Mean Grade C plain including C plain in English, and Kiswahili.
Fees: Ksh 15 100/= per term. Exam fee stage and final Ksh 4 000/= and Ksh 5 000/=
Exams: Kenya Polytechnic University College.
