Welcome to School of Hospitality and Tourism Management

The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management was developed from the Department of Institutional Management, and is one of the oldest in the Kenya Polytechnic, having been established in 1964.
It is being increasingly recognized that Hospitality and Tourism are the world’s largest and fastest growing industries. They are among Kenya’s top foreign exchange earners, together with horticulture, tea and coffee. There is need therefore to plan, develop and manage the industries in a highly professional and sustainable manner, and The Kenya Polytechnic University College has taken centre stage in training the professionals in these fields.
The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management is therefore focused on producing internationally competent practitioners and managers in these highly demanding service industries. Graduates of the Diploma and Bachelor of Technology will then join the industry as Chefs, Restaurant Supervisors, Tour and Travel Guides,Accommodation and Laundry Services Supervisors, Executive Conventional, Cultural and Nouvelle Cuisine Chefs, Hotel and Restaurant Managers, Executive Housekeepers, Laundry Operators, Tourism Advisors and Consultants and Strategists.
