The Health Services Management Programme examines contemporary issues which impact on the quality of healthcare delivery and allows students the opportunity to explore the theory, practice and principles of health management and apply these in a healthcare context. The programme combines business management studies with the knowledge needed for working with patients, clients and professional staff in health and social care. Bachelor of Technology in Health Services Management The Public Health programme examines the importance of creating supporting social, physical and cultural environments for health. The programmes address the nature of public health information and research, and develops skills in health needs assessment,epidemiology, evidence based decision making and action, evaluation, partnership, leadership and community engagement. Students’ key skills and personal development needs are also addressed.International and national policies and legislation have increasingly emphasized a public health agenda focused on Population based health and health improvement, Healthy public policy and investment in health, re-orientation and modernization of health services, reduction of health inequalities and social exclusion, Health protection and harm minimization, prevention of ill-health and tackling the root causes of ill-health, strategic partnerships for health and promotion of environmental, social, community and economic regeneration. We will train students’ capable of working in public health facilities, health trusts, local authorities and community agencies identify population health needs and develop policies and actions to improve public health.
