Entrepreneurship and Innovation are central to the creative processes in the economy, by promoting growth, increasing productivity and creating jobs. CEITT is well resourced to be a key force in supporting, promoting and developing entrepreneurship in Kenya. The Centre brings expertise together in an open and flexible manner. It provides a framework and conducive environment for entrepreneurs, researchers, academics and policy makers/ implementers to engage in a mutually complementary manner to support economic growth and employment creation in Kenya in line with the Kenya Vision 2030.
The overriding objective is to nurture entrepreneurship through education and training,research, professional and community development. The Centre aims to bridge the gap between the University and the business community by providing an open, learner-centred environment for students at all stages of their academic careers.
Courses and Programs
CEITT is a driving force in integrating relevant stakeholders to develop Kenya as an entrepreneurial country. The Centre’s role in developing the entrepreneurial culture is at four levels, i.e. Business and Policy, Academic, Community, Technology and Knowledge Transfer. These are carried out under distinct sections of the Centre which include: Entrepreneurship Teaching, Innovation and Technology Transfer. Each of these three Sections of the Centre will be coordinated to produce and develop various projects and programs necessary to achieving our vision of Unleashing entrepreneurial potential through innovation and creativity for economic development and poverty reduction through motivating The Kenya Polytechnic University College graduates to acquire skills for innovation and business creation geared towards economic self-sustainability, national development and industrialization.

Innovation Centre
The Innovation Centre will aim to provide infrastructure and services to support emerging innovative enterprises; to bridge the gap between the development and commercialization of ideas into viable and sustainable enterprises and products; and to assist existing businesses to identify commercialization opportunities.The Centre, to be established soon, will aim to develop high-tech manufacturing, advanced engineering and creative media sectors by providing a range of support and mentoring services.

Through its network of business, professional and academic contacts, the Centre will ensure that local entrepreneurs get the best support for their businesses, with access to intellectual property advice, investment readiness programmes, networking events, practical workshops and a panel of technical experts and business advisors. It will be specially designed to help firms with an innovative approach to business grow and thrive, by offering a range of services from offices and studios to workshops, all fully equipped with the latest technology in telephone, broadband, meeting rooms, reception and clerical services. It will be backed by a range of support measures to help businesses prosper. By basing your company in the Innovation Centre, you will be part of a thriving, supportive business community of like-minded entrepreneurs, and enjoy the benefits of the following projects:

Technology Transfer
The Centre will provide leadership in research, teaching and sharing knowledge more widely in entrepreneurship within the existing Kenya Polytechnic University College academic programs. Research will be at Doctoral and Masters levels in the areas of entrepreneurship,as well as provide training in entrepreneurship on the basis of short certificate programs to targeted groups. The Centre will forge partnerships and links with the Schools within The Kenya Polytechnic University College, and other Government agencies and local authorities in promoting entrepreneurial studies. The Centre will undertake research activity in the field of technology transfer in line with the university’s and government’s vision of becoming globally competitive.
The Centre will provide leadership for technology transfer and develop support systems for setting up and growing new ventures based on practical and appropriate technology by engaging in projects such as: renewable energy such as wind energy generation, water harvesting technology, solid and industrial waste management, disaster and rescue management, sustainable agriculture and development of appropriate technologies for various aspects of our social and economic sectors. In this regard, the Centre will facilitate
research that will lead to development of simple technologies that are practical, relevant, sustainable and that address real life problems in our country. The Centre has built a strong track-record of success in encouraging, advising and supporting students in setting-up, running and managing their own businesses.
