Because we live in the age of information, there is an ever growing need for trained specialists with a visual sophistication to design web sites, produce videos and films, create animated scenes and charÂacters, and participate in game design. The department will integrate academic study with extensive creative digital technology work. The department of CMT has been developed in response to all of these needs. It will provide a strong but versatile foundation by merging design and digital media into an exciting course of study. The courses will bring together various dynamic technologies, including print media, web design, multimedia, digital photography, animation, and digital film. The courses are designed to provide the skills necessary to fulfill the insatiable global need for information, entertainment and telecommunication in the context of creative design and thinking, computing skills and business fundamentals. The department will actively collaborate with industry as well as other research facilities in the world. We hope the partners will donate funds, research grants as well as projects that will enable the department to contribute to building an international and world class reputation. This approach will place The Kenya Polytechnic University College at the forefront of Kenyan multimedia education in the region. Bachelor of Technology Courses: Multimedia Technology: Specialise in: Digital 3D Design, Digital 3D Visualisation, Digital 2D Design, Web Design Animation Technology & Special Effects: Digital animation technology in film and television is an area of rapid growth. You will be encouraged to develop creatively and technically within the area of digital media, graphics technology, video/audio production and media programming. Interactive Media Technology: A practical course for those interested in designing websites, e-business applications, interactive training CDs/DVDs and computer-aided learning tools. You will have a keen interest in design, technology and a desire to use computers creatively.
