Welcome to School of Computing & Information Technologies

The School of Computing & Information Technology is proud to be associated with I.T. and related professionals’ within our nation and even upto the global platform. This has been made possible through the strong ties between the School and its current as well as former students. In a rapidly changing sector such as I.T., maintaining a good relationship with our external and internal publics has ensured we are able to meet diverse needs at corporate and individual levels. Our former students have been absorbed in diverse institutions such as manufacturing and production, training, research and service industries. This Diploma courses are deliberately designed to provide an opportunity for trainees to develop a career in IT, Computer Software Design and Development, and also prepare trainees for the pursuance of university degree in Computer Science.
The School is all-round, providing specialized assistance, technical support as well as information to all the other Schools who are our most important stakeholders. This is done in an attempt to demystify the field of Information Technology and for it to gain acceptance as is the case with other mainstream courses. Our students learn to appreciate the benefits of social responsibility through active participation in events organized by the Institution as well as through their industrial attachments.
Our special interest in the girl-child studying in a male-dominated field has propelled us to gradually increase the number of female students being admitted into the School, with a marked increase in the numbers attending part-time courses. Our key priority in the coming years, and keeping in mind the rapid changes in the global arena, will be to maintain the high standards of integrity and ethics that are important in any profession that involves information management, of which we are part of the backbone.
The school of computing and Information Technologies aims to be the leader in training and research, and serve as a point of reference in the field of computing and Information Technology in the region. It is responsible for teaching, training, carrying out research in software development and the development of all curriculums for all the computer related courses in the university college with emphasis on practical aspect of training.
Computer systems research activities will be focused on architecture of hardware and software of embedded systems, specification and design of computer-based systems, reconfigurable systems, adaptive systems, diagnostics and testing of digital systems and bio-inspired computer systems.Multimedia research activities will be mainly focused on general computer graphics algorithms, rendering, processing and recognition of speech signals, animation in three-dimensional space, modern methods of interaction in three-dimensional space, image processing, and applications.
Information systems research activities will be focused on database technology, implementation
of information systems, management of software projects, theory of formal computer languages and compilers.
