SAST is a progressive unit of the Kenya Polytechnic University College (KPUC). It provides academic or educational, research and service opportunities relating to the application of Science and Technology to the educational and business communities.

If your desire is to work in stimulating, highly-dynamic and practical environment, Science and technology fields, KPUC is your university college.  Kenya Polytechnic School of Applied Science and Technology(KPSAST), a school within KPUC serves as a connector and integrator of Kenya Polytechnic’s teaching and research efforts in Applied Science and Technology. Applied Sciences at KPUC has a long history beginning with the Royal Technical College presently University of Nairobi in 1960 (48 years today). The structure has undergone several reorganizations originally including the present school of Health Science and Technology. It was originally the Department of Applied Sciences and with the move towards offering Degrees of Technology, it was upgraded to a school in November 2008. It has now been expanded to include Environmental Science and Technology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Space Science and Technology as well as Earth and Atmospheric Science.
The school is intended to recognize the dramatic renewal and growth of Applied Sciences and highlight the college emphasis on technology and practical consequences of discovery through research. SAST has close ties with the college, undergraduate programs, the school of Liberal Science and Technology, Engineering, Health Science and Technology and increasingly strong links across the physical and life sciences.At the initial stages SAST and university college administrators are engaging in broad band ever-involving planning to ensure the future success of SAST and more generally to enable applied sciences to become an increasingly integral part of the educational, research and social mission of KPUC.

The SAST is designed to create students who excel in applied science as well as having a broad knowledge of other disciplines. Our community embraces flexibility, adaptability a ‘never say no’ attitude. There is a little hierarchy and high level of school and student autonomy. SAST is a place where collaboration is common. The school is and will continue to be a “connector and an integrator within the broader university college.  Kenya Polytechnic’s strengths in Physical and Biological Sciences will ensure synergies that will benefit engineering and other science and medical enterprises.
